Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Morgan Nolte, Owner of Zivli, LLC, located in Plattsmouth, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Over 88% of adults have some degree of insulin resistance. We are on a mission to change that. If left untreated, insulin resistance contributes to diseases like diabetes, heart disease, dementia, obesity, osteoarthritis, and more. We've distilled thousands of hours of experience and research into Zivli, an easy-to-follow, individualized online course and coaching program for lasting weight loss and better health.

Zivli helps you lose weight sustainably and reduce your risk of diseases by reversing insulin resistance and lowering inflammation.

Tell us about yourself

As a geriatric physical therapist, I saw firsthand the negative downstream effects of insulin resistance. There was a gap in preventative care to reverse risk factors before they become a disease, and that's exactly what we aim to do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Just doing it! I knew that growing a business would take time. We are nearly 4 years in, and I'm so proud of how far we've come. I've grown personally and professionally and love having no learning or earning ceiling.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing home and work. I started this business when my first child was 4 months old, and during the COVID-19 pandemic had my second. Thankfully my husband is very supportive and also has a flexible work schedule. It's a constant recalibration between work and home needs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Give yourself grace and patience. You'll want instant success, but it simply doesn't happen that way for most business owners. You've got to learn the skills, messaging, marketing, and determination. Failure is the price of admission.
  2. Lean into your support system, and don't be afraid to ask for more help from your loved ones.
  3. Track your own business finances. You must know your income and expenses, or else you'll go out of business. Even if you aren't a numbers person, you can learn basic addition and subtraction to keep track of your finances. Be sure to put money aside for taxes and profit to have a cushion to reinvest in the business.
