What's your business, and who are your customers?
Zig Zag Asian Collection is an import wholesale/retail business for clothing, accessories, and jewelry that reflects our easy-going Santa Cruz, California lifestyle. Our customers are women and men of any age who like to dress and relax in contemporary, comfortable, and chic clothes.
Tell us about yourself
My love for adventure and travel started my journey to Asia in 1985 and opened my eyes to the colors and patterns of the many traditional handicrafts I encountered. With merchant genes in my blood and my love for art and fashion, I started designing and importing from Thailand, Nepal, and India. I am motivated by colors, patterns, and textiles as much as by the people who make our clothes and who love our collection.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
At this point in my life as a business owner, I am thrilled that we have survived 3 years of COVID and are doing well! Our biggest accomplishment was adapting to a new "NEW" and continuing to do what we love.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing as a business owner is staying flexible, going with the flow, and keeping a positive attitude, especially when things seem desperate.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go with your gut feelings.
- Make a business plan.
- Integrity, honesty, and fairness are essential.
