What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sanzi Performance Organics is a hair and body care line that is made with organic ingredients; it is vegan, also sulfate, paraben, and gluten-free. Our products are a balance of organic and high performance, giving the consumer salon quality results. Our customers are eco-conscious consumers looking for clean ingredients but also wanting high-performance results.

Tell us about yourself

As Rob's wife and co-salon owner, I noticed how Rob knew every ingredient in the products that we sold and which ingredients he would take out or add to the products to make them better. So one day, I said Rob, you need to create your own product line. You are a fourth-generation hair stylist. You have a lot of hair knowledge to put into a product line and share with the world. The thing that motivates us every day is wanting to get as many consumers as we can experience our products and their results.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The most rewarding accomplishment is when we have a consumer tell us how much they love our products and how they can't live without them. One story that really sticks in my mind is about a lady who told us that she was out of town and forgot her Zi products. She was staying at a high-end hotel and had to use the complimentary products that were also high-end, but the results were not as good, and she will never forget her Zi products again!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is that there are a lot of ups and downs, but it does inspire you to work harder!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, I would tell them to really believe in their idea. Be prepared to work harder than you ever have, and never give up! Failure is not an option!
