What's your business, and who are your customers?

Zenotica™ blends Feng Shui and graphic design to create brand visuals that are extraordinary & outside the box.

Through Zenotica™, I create harmonious, vibrant spaces – both digital and physical—that welcome you home, and make you feel proud, inspired, and balanced. I am passionate about bringing harmony, beauty, and alignment to brands, the owners of the brands, and their living spaces to take them to their next level of success.

I work primarily with conscious entrepreneurs to elevate their branding and attract the audience they enjoy working with.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a creative person at heart. I am also a naturally intuitive and passionate person with a deep connection to nature. I was born in El Salvador and raised in the northeast United States. When I was a child and through my high school years, I wanted to be an architect. I went to college to pursue that career, but I soon realized that math and physics were not my forte, and having great drafting skills were only going to take me so far. Instead, I decided to go to school for visual arts and commercial art. I really enjoyed the freedom to create far more than symmetrical and constructed environments and dove into obtaining a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, concentrating in Graphic Design.

During the time I studied architecture, I learned about various spatial design environments, including Feng Shui. I thought it was a very interesting concept as the core principle for this system is used to assess the land's energy for the people who occupy it are safe and supported. What stroke a chord in me was when I began working with Feng Shui for my personal wellbeing. I learned that the Feng Shui of the environment is also the invisible energy that affects everything in one's life, from relationships to career, to overall health. As I continued implementing this method in every sector of my life, I began experiencing more confidence, feeling more balanced, and, more importantly, feeling a sense of hope, clarity, and belonging. By tapping into the energies that flow into the space and working with the natural elements, I have been able to create nurturing and vibrant home and office spaces for myself, my loved ones, and clients.

Feng Shui has been my happy center for over 22 years. I am able to bring my creative sensibilities, design skills, desire for balance, and love for nature into one dynamic platform. What motivates me to be of service has a lot to do with the name of my company, Zenotica™. "Zenotica" is a word I created that means Exotic Zen. My heart sings when I create refined brands and vibrant living spaces that make you feel wholesome, being surrounded by beauty, comfort, and peace.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner is having been able to sustain a highly-creative and holistic business, all the while co-creating a harmonious home environment and raising two sons that are 18 years apart.

I've been running my business from a home-office setting for over 14 years. I've had to learn how to organize my time wisely and create safe boundaries, so I don't get overwhelmed running a household and a business under the same roof.

This tried-and-true experience has encouraged me to support clients in co-creating harmonious life and working spaces for themselves and their loved ones during these COVID years. What brings a smile to my face is the inner knowing that people are beginning to understand what "living in harmony" truly is and how valuable it is to manage their own energy.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not being able to ask for help. I am a very strong, independent person, and asking for help was always hard for me. It was during a period of over 18 months that I had to take a forced sabbatical while I was recovering from eradicating the hepatitis-c. I carried the virus for 26 years. During the recovery, I had to put my business on pause. As I am my own boss, I felt helpless. I felt I was not supporting my clients, and business was dwindling, or so that's what I thought. Luckily, I have a supportive husband, parents, mentors, and clients that were helpful and understanding during my healing process. I realize that my pursuit for wholesome health has also been the driver and reason for doing my work all along.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do something that makes your heart sing, that brings you joy. This way, it doesn't feel like "work."
  2. Work with people you like and resonate with your values, vision, and mission.
  3. Be mindful of the resources at hand, whether they are financial providers, purveyors, team members, mentors, networking communities, etc. Be a good listener and see how they can serve your highest good. But more importantly, be mindful of your own energy.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I invite you to consider using practical principles of Feng Shui to help you get started in shifting your personal energy to help you navigate life more harmoniously:

  1. Comfort & Safety:
Check your plumbing, electricity, doors, and windows (no squeaks, no leaks). Everything should be clean and in good working order.
  2. Live With What You Love:
Declutter, donate and keep the things that bring a smile to your heart. Remember, everything you own should serve you.
  3. Give Everything a Home:
Identify what you have, organize, and execute!
  4. Make Your Home a Place You Love:
Refresh your space with live plants and add colors that lift you up. Play music. Honor and respect the ones you're with.
  5. Make Practicality Your Best Friend:
Don't overthink anything. Don't wait for the right moment. Be in the Now.
And remember: YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH.
