Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Stephanie Reid, Founder and CEO of Your Healing Place, located in Baltimore, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Your Healing Place is a "Virtual wellness practice." Clients have the convenience of establishing and maintaining wellness from the comforts of home. Innovative technology (ZYTO scan) is used to assess stress on the body using a windows laptop. The beauty of the technology is that it identifies trapped emotions contributing to disease even when a client is unaware of her emotional state. It also scans the body and establishes the exact protocol of natural remedies without human error. This helps the client get the best natural remedies (homeopathic, minerals, herbs, etc.). No time wasted, no unnecessary expenses, just quick results. We get it right the first time!

Hair Tissue Analysis is used to provide clients the exact insight they need to understand why they are not feeling their best. It identifies toxic exposure, mineral imbalances, and trends for future health status. The results also offer a personalized diet and mineral protocol to get the body back on track. Clients start to see a positive change in just a few days.

Women are coached in the direction of wellness by helping them discover their personal journey and how it impacts their spirit, mind & body. Putting these pieces together culminates into a well-defined, personalized wellness plan that gets results: more energy, balanced hormones, more intimate relationships, emotional clarity, and self-acceptance. This framework becomes the building block to personal fullfillment~ true wellness.

Tell us about yourself

I am a compassionate and passionate wellness coach who helps women redefine wellness for themselves as they learn some really amazing ways to attain health and vitality in every stage of their lives. My ultimate role is to move clients from a position of Panic to a stance of Empowerment., With that sense of personal power, there is no barrier to what she can achieve with her health, relationships, creative endeavors, or business goals. Wellness is a journey, not a destination.

My programs empower women for all of it! I stumbled onto this career as a way to re-invent myself. Like many women, I felt traumatized and victimized by my life's experiences. I needed a way to invent a version of myself that I could feel good about. I opened Your Healing Place 18 yrs ago as an offering for other women to have space to discover themselves and uncover their personal power to become creative powerhouses. But, I understood that I would serve them best by helping them get well on deep levels.

I put all of my experiences from work, education, and personal ordeals into creating Your Healing Place. My knowledge base is vast due to my formal education. I hold a BS Degree in Exercise Science, Masters in Gerontology, and Ph.D. in Natural Health. I am a Licensed Massage therapist and Certified Conscious Education Wellness Coach.

I am sold out on the idea that women need support beyond conventional practices to get to the best parts of themselves to do the real work to change their world. I strongly believe we all have a calling. Many of us hear it and don't understand what we hear. While others are searching for what their heart longs for. I am inspired by the idea that if I can help women connect to spirit, mind & body, they will find their answer to the "why am I here?" It's imperative we all get to that sweet spot. Anything less is a life unactualized and unfulfilled.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was stepping out on faith and becoming a Naturopath before it was popular and evolved with the times to succeed. When I began this journey, I had difficulty getting clients because I could not explain what I did. As a society, we were not ready to embrace natural practitioners with the same level of confidence we do now.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is the resolve to keep going when business slows down. Solopaneurship demands passion, or the dream can quickly die after the honeymoon phase is over and there are more expenses than cash flow. I've learned that you don't have a business unless there is profit. Life after the onset of COVID really tested that for me. Luckily, I have been able to transition my services into a virtual model that is building momentum. More clients see a huge value, especially since face-to-face connections create unnecessary health risks. My motto? Innovate, Innovate, Innovate!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Learn your craft. Be the expert. Clients are looking for someone they can feel secure with.
  2. Be open to change. Evolve by falling in love with your clients. Give them what they want so you can bless them with what they need. Being the expert, you should be able to identify what your clients need.
  3. Be relatable. Connect with clients on a personal level. Consider yourself the teacher and the student. Always be willing to learn from everyone.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'd like to share that I believe in divine timing. I was asked for this interview at a time I was going through another re-invention. This new version of me that is emerging is filled with a desire to be transparent to uplift my "sisters." I am so grateful for this opportunity. I pray that readers will feel my heart and jump on my positive energy stream to finally have an opportunity to press forward in whatever direction their heart calls them.

I'm not going to apologize for my lack of social media presence. I am all into supporting my client's on their journey. Yet again, I'm thankful for this opportunity. Maybe this interview will make up for my social media fog.
