What's your business, and who are your customers?

You Glow Girl Candle Co. provides eco-friendly candles that enhance your space with aromatic scents that boost your mood and create a positive vibe. We use 100% coconut soy wax in all of our candles. This means that our candles are vegan-friendly because they do not contain any toxins, parabens, or phthalates. Each candle is hand-poured and handmade with lots of love. We chose the name; You Glow Girl Candle Co. to promote positivity amongst women.

Tell us about yourself

You Glow Girl Candle Co. was created in 2020 by myself, Owner/Maker Stacie Refeld, in the midst of the global pandemic. Candle-making was a way to keep me busy and occupied during quarantine. The process was also therapeutic as it helped take my mind off of the craziness that was going on in the world. With an obsession for home fragrances and aromatherapy, I’ve always wanted to learn the art of candle making. What motivates me to keep going is hearing people constantly say that they love my candles.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having my candles featured in Glamour U.K. magazine three months in a row.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staying motivated when business is slow. You have to understand that every day is not going to be a good sales day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take the time to do your research before rushing to start a business.
  2. Figure out who your target audience is and learn how to market your products to appeal to them.
  3. Use social media platforms to promote your business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Be patient. Don’t expect your business to take off overnight. Keep going, and don’t get discouraged.
