Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lindsay Coward, Founder of Yoga Nut, located in Asheville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Yoga Nut provides Worksite Wellness programs and on-demand yoga that builds community and belonging and company culture and helps teams manage stress during the work day. Our convenient services are designed for businesses and busy working adults so they can live well at work and in life!

Tell us about yourself

I am a Certified Yoga Instructor with an educational and experiential background in Public Health and Stress Management. My passion for everyday well-being at work was born from my experience in the corporate grocery industry, where I was overworked, undervalued, and received limited support. Work demands and hours were high, while positivity and connection were lacking. I turned to an evening yoga class for support and found that by adding that simple step into my work week, I was able to show up with a better mindset even though nothing about the job had changed.

This experience inspired me to provide yoga, mindfulness, and stress management tools to teams during the work day so that all working adults can be supported and more productive at work. The best part is seeing individuals show up as their best selves, improved team connection, and morale, plus improved client relations and bottom line as a result of Yoga Nut services.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is dreaming up and developing an online portal with on-demand yoga, meditation, and breathwork sessions (available for teams and individuals). This portal streams across all devices with internet or wifi and provides tools for team members and individuals to live well throughout the day. Sessions range in length and topic so you can always find what you need - whether you are feeling stressed, need a moment to release anxiety, are looking to stretch out your back, or are preparing for the day ahead.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I am a solopreneur, so one of the biggest challenges I faced, in the beginning, was working alone and not having a team to bounce ideas off of or lean into for guidance. I have found support in the entrepreneurial community through coaches, my husband, and my team members.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Delegate tasks that are outside your realm or that you have limited capacity for.
  2. Find support.
  3. Stay strong and keep going... one hit wonders are the exception!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Remember that life is more than work! Outside of being a business owner and wellness professional, I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, sitting in the sun, playing with my family, and eating local food.
