Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liza Janda, Owner of Yoga Janda, located in Vista, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is all about educating and inspiring expecting parents-to-be. I teach classes and blog about having a safe and healthy pregnancy, labor, and birth. I offer the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth, Refresher Childbirth, Prenatal Yoga, Breastfeeding Education, and Counseling.

Tell us about yourself

My passion was ignited after my husband, and I took a Bradley Method Childbirth Class and had an unmedicated, natural birth. I began teaching childbirth 27 years ago and 20 years ago began teaching Prenatal Yoga. I've been a fitness instructor my entire adult life, and the two things just melded. I feel God made it easy and obvious to me that this is what I was supposed to do. Five years ago, I became a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor. So I have added a new passion for helping women breastfeed. I love what I do, so that's what motivates me. It doesn't feel like work. It feels like a ministry, a passion, and it's fun to change people's lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I don't think I'm the best businesswoman. I just enjoy what I do. Getting my blog noticed and read by many people and being listed in the Top 100 pregnancy blogs and the Top 20 health and wellness blogs by two different organizations is really nice. But helping new parents is the most rewarding and satisfying aspect of what I do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me is being organized and disciplined. For those reasons, I find myself falling flat in being a businesswoman.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do what you love. Find something you are passionate about. Or, find something that will make you some good money while you enjoy doing it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I don't make much money in this business, but I enjoy what I do. Positively impacting people's lives is incredibly rewarding for me.
