Tell us about yourself

Based in the United States, the company is more than 50 percent women-owned. It includes experts in food service, retail, and the Australian meat industry. My background is in food and beverage marketing. I have run a marketing agency for global brands and marketing boards for 20 years. I have owned/operated a chef conference for the hotel industry since 2017.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting a brand new company in a brand new category during a pandemic has been no easy feat. That said, the Founding team is incredible and brings together robust product and industry knowledge to drive success and growth. In 2021 our products were awarded both the Spirit of Innovation Award and Editor's Pick: Best New Product. Once we're allowed to get out and sample to the masses, we know the hill will be easier to climb. The products overdeliver in taste and quality.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I own three businesses, of which this is one. The hardest thing for me is finding balance--between the three companies AND with my two beautiful children. There's no "off" time as a business owner. And there's a large burden of responsibility to people who invest and are committed to you--financially and with their time. I am a people pleaser!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research--know your business category inside and out...everyone will ask you the same set of questions. From banks to potential investors to vendor partners. Be confident you are going into the right space at the right time and are meeting a need.
  2. Ask for help. We have villages for a reason. Don't be too proud to ask from help from your subject matter experts and friends. Barter one expertise for another if cost is an issue.
  3. Rome wasn't built in a day, and there is no such thing as overnight success. Give yourself grace and expect the setbacks--there will be MANY.
