What's your business, and who are your customers?
WINNØW is a science back skincare brand that marries performance and luxury. Our signature product is a luxury face cream that is the first to pair the finest broad-spectrum CBD with a blend of hyaluronic and amino acids, niacinamide, and shea butter. The result is a lightweight premium moisturizer that balances skin, hydrates, reduces redness and fine lines, and delivers the healthy glow we all crave.
Tell us about yourself
My co-founder Audrey Kirdar and I met back in college. We bonded over a love of skincare and fashion at the time. After I pursued a career in architecture and she in finance, we came back together in 2019 with a joint goal of solving some of our current skincare dilemmas that we felt weren’t being addressed by the existing products on the market. Audrey had noticed the benefits of CBD on eczema on her legs, so we searched for skincare that combined the power of CBD with the ingredients we loved in our favorite luxury face creams. When we didn’t find it, we decided to create it… enter WINNØW Skincare. Seeing the results in my skin and the positive feedback from our customers motivates me to continue this journey.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is learning it all from scratch. When we started WINNØW, we knew a lot about our past disciplines but didn’t know anything about starting a business. We were aware of the big-picture ideas, but there were so many other minutiae and details, and we had to be the ones to figure it all out. It felt like being back in school in a challenging but exciting course.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
So far, what we’ve found to be the most challenging part of being a business owner is marketing. It is one thing to have a fantastic product, but you need to get it in front of as many people as possible. We know that once someone tries WINNØW, they will love it. Getting it in their hands is the hardest part.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be passionate about your product.
- Make sure you have a great partner.
- Be patient; nothing happens overnight.
