What's your business, and who are your customers?
We welcome you into the culinary world of La Fermette Fumée! This one-of-a-kind BBQ & TexMex restaurant comes from the creative mind of our chef William Colley. Together they now offer fresh and delicious ready-to-eat meal service, food-forward reception halls, and an impressive series of craft hot sauces with peppers they cultivate.
Our customers are largely based in the Eastern Townships, but our catering service provides buffet meals on TV and Film sets in and around the island of Montreal, Quebec.
Tell us about yourself
I have traveled the world in my youth, studied illustration and design, and have always worked in kitchens. My passion for cooking and work ethic thrust me into running my own catering business on TV and Film sets at the age of 20; I have never looked back.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is still being here. After 20 years in a very competitive and judgemental industry, I have learned the art of expansion, humility, and delegation, and to continue succeeding, I can never stop growing.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The ability to let go. Give yourself a pass sometimes, and always keep your chin up.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Your business needs to be your passion, you need to have the energy to share that passion, and you need some solid, healthy tools to cope with stress and constant surprises.
