Tell us about yourself
When I was in my young teens, I started with bootleg versions of graphics software like Corel Draw and early Illustrator. I started working in the design/web industries when I was 19. Over the years, I challenged myself to become more technical; building teams, improving Lean and Agile processes, and writing more code. Now I still write code every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments as a business owner are my Shopify apps. 2023 will be a big year of growth for me.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
For me, staying on track with low-level tasks is challenging. I like new and shiny things!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get more technical. Outsourcing tasks before you understand the machine is very inefficient and can increase your risk profile greatly.
- Less is more. Solve smaller problems instead of larger problems. Start small and pursue excellence there; then expand.
- Start with a 10-year plan for success and test everything to validate your assumptions. If your original hypotheses fail—do not pass go. Rethink, reframe, redo, maybe even quit and drive into another lane.
