What's your business, and who are your customers?
Wildlight is a career coaching service for women and BIPOC professionals that combines deep reflection through inner-work and proven sales and communications strategies to drive confidence.
Tell us about yourself
I spent 15 years leading sales teams for high-growth tech companies and became a stay-at-home parent in 2020 to my two little girls. With my career set aside to focus on my family, I saw my priorities more clearly and started Wildlight to support other women and BIPOC individuals so that they can expand confidently in their careers.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Six months into my business, I coached over 20 women and shared free advice and tips with hundreds more. Seeing the incredible results that my paid and unpaid clients share with me has been the most rewarding for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having to run every department of your business on your own - from market research to web development, marketing, sales, invoicing, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your why (your story, the reason behind the business) and share that from the heart. People/clients will listen, follow, and buy from you because you are being authentic and real.
- Rather than aiming for perfection, go with perfectly good. Whether it's an idea, product, or content you're testing, go with what's perfectly good so you can accomplish more.
- Ask for help (and reciprocate). No matter how capable you are, you can't do it all. Hire contractors, and join online and community groups to ask questions. And in return, foster those relationships by offering your time/advice as well.
