What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business began as a third-party seller on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and Shopify. Using the 80/20 rule, I recognized that 80% of my sales were coming from one line of products. So, I am currently phasing out all other products and focusing on my Gly Miracle® skin care line exclusively. I have lots of work to do in converting my social media pages to my single focus and I hope that links to a variety of products will not be confusing during the transition.
Tell us about yourself
I began selling on eBay due to my husband's initial interest in it. As it turned out, he wasn't really inspired to continue that work, but I found online selling to be exciting, interesting, and challenging. I decided I would continue, even if he wasn't going to be involved anymore. I love serving customers, and even though it is online selling, there are so many opportunities to connect with people - and I enjoy that tremendously.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Lots of things go wrong in businesses every day. I believe my strength is in recognizing that it is common and not giving up. I think of each new challenge as simply another problem to solve. The bonus is that I've gotten very good at problem-solving!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding the right resources to outsource projects which are outside of my skillsets. So many people claim to be able to do what is needed only to discover they can not actually deliver.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Keep a positive mindset! When you get discouraged or frustrated, stop and remember all the things you are grateful for. That erases negativity in its tracks.
- Surround yourself with positive and supportive people. Stay away from toxic personalities, even if they are family.
- When you have an idea, Take Action immediately!
