Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ariel Anton, Owner of Wicked Beauty Lounge, located in Mount Pleasant, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The name of my business is Wicked Beauty lounge. We are a non-medical weight loss and beauty lounge. Our customers travel from all over to come and visit the spa. I help women of all ages, shapes, and sizes to love themselves again and feel confident in their own skin. A passion of mine is to help others every day I can. As long as I am helping, I feel that I am doing some good in my community. Seeing the looks on these women's faces when they get off my table and see their results is an incredible feeling.

Tell us about yourself

I am a 33-year-old mother of two wonderful boys. My husband and I are both small business owners and entrepreneurs. We teach our children the importance of hard work, dedication, and helping others. When Covid came about, my cleaning company was not able to keep going. During this time, I decided to invest in my education and start a new business that I really loved. I started doing eyelash extensions out of my living room a few days a week, and I have grown to a reputable five-star spa that is almost always fully booked. I am motivated every day to continue providing for my family and growing my business because we don't always know what the future holds. I am motivated by the smiles I see every day. I am motivated by the thank yous I hear for just being there. I am motivated every day to keep helping women as much as I can.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that I have been able to double my business every year since I started in 2020. It is my goal to continue doubling my business every year and continuing to educate myself, and adding new services and service providers.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is that no one understands what we go through. We have to deal with the day-to-day in the business, all the customer service, and still have to balance our personal lives and family. Sometimes I feel like I could be doing better in one or the other categories. I will be rocking it as a business owner, but I feel like I am losing out on family time. I can be an amazing hands-on mother, but then I feel like my business might not be getting enough attention. Finding the correct balance is one of the hardest things about being a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Never give up, don't let others' opinions motivate your decisions, and always surround yourself with positive influences.
  2. Running a business is not for the light of heart. It takes dedication, long hours, and losing out on time with family and friends. In the end, it is 100% worth it to be able to provide for your family and know that in the future, you will be able to relax and that you have built an amazing business.
  3. Never let somebody's negativity influence your business. They do not pay your bills, and just because they don't support you doesn't mean a million other strangers aren't supporting you. Strangers will support you faster than the ones you know. Never let the little nos stop you from getting the big yes.
  4. Having positive influences in your life will play a big role in growing your business. You need to surround yourself with positive people and positive things. Like attracts like, and if you have negative influences in your life, you won't be able to reach your full potential. I believe that every single one of us can do this if we put our minds to it.
