What's your business, and who are your customers?
The business name is Wholistic Physical Therapy because we go above and beyond the traditional physical therapy model; the “W” symbolizes a more functional medicine approach, bringing in cutting-edge technologies and education, with attention to healing the whole body, mind, and spirit. Our customers are those wishing to improve the whole health picture, maintain excellent health, or age more slowly biologically.
Tell us about yourself
I went to medical school in Cape Town, South Africa, and immigrated to the United States in 1996. I quickly became disenchanted with the production line factory and the feeling of working in physical therapy in hospitals, nursing homes, and outpatient clinics. So I decided to invent my own model of care and start my own business, which I did in 2002. This allows me to treat and hire an excellent clinical team to treat patients for one hour at a time
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Succeeding and thriving outside of the insurance-based medical model.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Surrounding myself with excellent clinicians who have, or can learn and implement my vision.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Duplicate yourself as soon as possible, starting with hiring good people to do more menial tasks, so you can be freed up to do the high-paying activities.
- Live at the point or cutting edge of the spear in whatever your chosen field of passion.
- Walk the walk and practice what you preach to take excellent care of yourself.
