Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Caroline Londergan, Owner of White House Pilates, with locations in Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Torrance, California, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

White House Pilates in the South Bay and West Side of Los Angeles. We are a series of boutique Pilates studios that offer personalized private and semi-private sessions as well as small group classes on the Reformer and Tower.

We also have a Teacher Training Certification Program that is in the direct lineage of Joseph Pilates, the founder of the method. Our clients are both men and women who want to feel amazing both mentally and physically. Pilates gives them complete coordination of mind, body, and spirit.

Tell us about yourself

I was a professional dancer and have studied Pilates and Yoga since I was 14 years old. The movement has always been a major part of my life. Moving to Pilates feels amazing and provides so many benefits for the mind and body. It is so rewarding to be able to provide clients with the pilates method and apparatus so they can learn more about their own mind/body connection.

Learn proper alignment and posture, and gain confidence and balance, strength, and flexibility. I’m motivated by helping others achieve health and wellness through Pilates.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner would be opening multiple locations and certifying Pilates instructors. Watching my students become teachers is incredible to witness. I love to see the transformation and the confidence that comes with it for their own personal growth. It feels like passing the torch so that the Pilates method can reach more and more people.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing as a business owner is finding the right “team” to represent your brand. It is so important that the people you choose to work with you and surround yourself with have a similar passion and goal and an interest in making the business succeed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient with the process. (Never give up!)
  2. Be consistent.
  3. Be passionate.
