What's your business, and who are your customers?
Westside Pilates is a classical Pilates studio that offers private, duet, and small group instruction. We also have a therapy room that hosts a physical therapist, massage therapist, and acupuncturist. Most of our clients are those who are local to each location.
Tell us about yourself
I had a lower back injury in college and started doing Pilates. It was the only form of exercise that really helped my lower back to heal and get stronger. From there, I became an instructor just to learn all of the exercises and ended up loving teaching. I truly enjoy watching others heal and feel better by doing Joseph Pilates' work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I love that I have a place where instructors can come and work on their craft, and clients can come to feel better and have a community that supports their journey.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things is that you have to be prepared to pivot, as you never know what will come your way as a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be consistent. Perseverance pays off. Stay true to yourself.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Running a business is not a smooth operation, but if you enjoy what you do, it can be very rewarding.
