Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wenday Cooper, Owner of Wenday's Bakery & Boutique, located in Council Bluffs, IA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a Bakery & Boutique. I am also a Food Artist & Charcuterie Teacher/Master, and Zen & Spiritual Teacher.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Council Bluffs resident who loves creating beautiful and artful expressions that are just perfect for my customer's wants and needs. I have served my community as a long-time social worker, college professor, spiritual teacher, baker & food artist, and has much joy in my heart. Wenday's Bakery & Boutique is located in the Historic Park Building in downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa. I am inviting you into my kitchen through my cooking show on YOUTUBE.

I travel around the Midwest, teaching the art of loving self-seminars and on a mission to help the human race find unity of mind, heart, and soul. I am also happily married. When I am not serving the public, you may see me walking through a field of wildflowers, holding Jesus's hand, and talking about life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I opened my small business in June of 2020 in the midst of a worldwide pandemic as a way to be a place where all feel loved, welcome, and embraced. I continue to operate my lovely bakery, boutique, coffee, and French-faire boutique today. I am so grateful to all of my customers, my team, and our amazing God for having faith in me and helping me to believe in myself.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning the art of balancing life, work, and "being" vs. "doing." Take time to work and to rest. Your mental and spiritual self need to have balance in order to be successful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Follow your heart, be authentic, and always ask for help when needed. It is now what you do... it is who you are. Always be kind, generous, and friendly. People want to feel loved, accepted, and embraced.
