What's your business, and who are your customers?
I hand craft beautiful, uniquely blended aromatherapy 100% Soywax Crystal Candles, crystal healing bracelets, All natural body products, and Smudges(harvested on our amazing property). Keeping our eco-Footprint in check by utilizing all-natural, ethically derived ingredients while keeping elegance and beauty intact.
My customers range greatly from those with metaphysical interests, customers looking for additional healing modalities, the Home Decor lover, and customers who just love the all-natural vibes we offer.
Tell us about yourself
I am a first, first responder, and I had some health issues that came up a few years ago that drastically altered my ability to do anything, let alone the job I love. As a Reiki Practitioner, I tried every additional modality I could get my hands on to get better enough so I could return to work. My body just didn’t co-operate. I went from being extremely physically active, working shift work, actively participating in family activities with our family, and having a very full and busy life. Suddenly all of that stopped. All of the activities I absolutely loved were stunted. Because of all of the changes affected my world not just physically but emotionally and especially mentally. My psychiatrist suggested I find something to do to occupy myself.
Being a Reiki and crystal Practitioner as well as studying aromatherapy for years, I decided to attempt making clean-burning candles. I started in my kitchen, making a special candle with crystals infused and blended a beautiful scent together specifically for balancing the Root Chakra. It turned out amazing, so I started to branch out. Making more candles as gifts became a favorite with family and friends. I did reiki throughout the entire candling process to bring in light to whoever burns my candles. I began branching out to crystal zodiac candles, to series candles, to making crystal healing bracelets for specific ailments. Then last year did my first market. I wasn’t expecting the overwhelming response I got from my candles.
Since the day I started, I am now a Reiki Master Teacher, and my goal is to help anyone that has one of my candles find a little more light within themselves. I still suffer physically from my autoimmune disease and mental health from that as well, but the energy that comes from the combination of aromatherapy, crystals, and candles has completely lit my soul. Bringing life back to nature where it belongs. I lovingly refer to myself as a “Tree hugging Diva.”
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I absolutely love hearing all the amazing and positive feedback from my products. When I wear my brand or am driving my branded Jeep, hearing customers actually stop me where I am to tell me their stories of how a little candle has brought them happiness. That is wonderful. I am very conscious of my brand as it represents my personal journey of finding wellness myself.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Keeping up with the demand and being gentle with my physical body as it goes through flares.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get organized.
- Work on a clear branding technique. A brand is everything!!
- Network with other small businesses in your area.
