What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being in a position to support organizations across geographies and industries, I love the variety and impact it creates to make things better in a corporate world undergoing tremendous change.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
In my experience, as business owners, we want to spend as much time as possible on our businesses. Still, we must rearrange and refocus our attention on different things at different times. Trying to keep up with trying to do it all at once is a losing game.
Instead, be okay to lean on a strong community and support system around you and ask for help, whether that is in your career or at home in your relationships, even if it comes at a financial expense. To avoid burnout and thrive, you need a good amount of self-awareness and recognize when your battery is running low, so you can prioritize taking care of yourself. If you cannot do that, you might fall victim to burnout.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be intentional - don't be everything to all people.
- Take care of yourself first - your business will only thrive when you have taken care of yourself.
- Mindset over strategy - while strategy is important, your results largely depend on a positive mindset.
