Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in training and education but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wayne "Wavy" Adams, Founder of Wavy Wayne Audio LLC., located in Saint Louis, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wavy Wayne Audio creates educational content and training for audio engineers while providing them with the tools needed to record and mix better and faster.

Tell us about yourself

My interest in music production started when I was young as a member of my school's marching band. As a teen, I was a rapper who had stage fright and found comfort in producing and engineering while still being close to the music. Once I graduated HS, I went to Full Sail to learn Recording Arts. From there, I interned and honed my craft at Quad Recording Studio NYC. Seeing that home studios were becoming more and more popular, I started to teach home engineers. My love for teaching grew into the YouTube channel that I produce today, with over 240k Subscribers. Being able to influence the next generation of music makers and making the education, training, and tools of audio production accessible to all drive me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment is that I have trained thousands of audio engineers online and have helped hundreds of students achieve Pro Tools Certified.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the biggest challenges I face is the ability to delegate tasks. This business is my baby, and I take every detail personally.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Three tips that I would offer are:

  1. Begin with the end in mind. Visualize your long-term goals and reverse engineer the path to get there.
  2. Set a few tasks that you can accomplish each day to reach your business goals.
  3. Document your standard operating procedures to make the delegation of monotonous tasks easier.
