What's your business, and who are your customers?
VOLUME18 is a strategic communications firm based in Atlantic Canada. We mash together our strategic and marketing minds to deliver impactful and innovative storytelling for our clients.
Tell us about yourself
My "why" is my kids and needing to be challenged. We are lucky to work with private and public sector clients to tackle big and small problems. As a result, we are constantly learning and improving our services.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
VOLUME18 is five years this year, and that's an accomplishment for me. We have had a lot of challenges during those years and are raising young families, but we have been honoured to receive support and trust from our clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Knowing what you do well and saying no to what you do not do well. We now have a niche market for our services and are hitting our stride as we create our own mould rather than trying to fit the typical marketing or PR firm.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you love. It will keep you up at night, so it better be worth it.
- Define your why before you start. When it's tough, go back to the why.
- Trust yourself. Always trust your gut.
