What's your business, and who are your customers?

Vivid is a psychology, counselling, and mental health practice that offers support to people of all ages, abilities, genders, backgrounds, and belief systems. We support individuals, groups, people in relationships together, and families.

Tell us about yourself

I created Vivid to support people in achieving well-being in their lives. My goal is to support people in building quality relationships with others (as well as with themselves), creating community, and building the tools and resources to navigate their daily lives with authenticity and wholeheartedness. Every time that I spend with a client feels like a privilege for me, and the opportunity to hear their stories and witness their journeys is what keeps me connected to our purpose here at Vivid.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is seeing our clients achieve success.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the trickiest things that come with being a business owner is managing staff through uncertainty and change. Keeping our eyes on the goal and intention of our practices and our space definitely helps.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be willing to be relentless. - You need to be able to persevere when you experience obstacles and challenges.
  2. Be willing to learn and accept feedback. - Listen. There is always feedback to be received, and taking the time to self-reflect and to grow and maneuver as a leader and business owner is important.
  3. Nurture your relationships. Taking care of your personal and professional relationships is important, and they will nurture you in times of difficulty. They are also opportunities for growth, support, feedback, and places to land and be yourself.
