Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Martin, founder of Vivaria Massage Therapy, located in Dartmouth, NS, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a registered massage therapist working from my home office. I treat various clients ranging from maintenance, relaxation, and acute to chronic conditions.

Tell us about yourself

To be honest, Covid-19 convinced me to start working for myself after the clinic I was at closed. I am truly blessed to be able to help my clients ease their pain and discomfort, improve their posture and mobility, and relax and heal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would have to say my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is doing it all by myself and showing myself I could!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about running your own business is scheduling and bookkeeping. It's hard to turn work mode off and make boundaries and manage money and expenses.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself.
  2. Don't be scared to ask for help.
  3. Start out small and continue to learn and grow.
