What's your business, and who are your customers?

Provides personalized, one-on-one nutrition coaching for weight loss and improved wellness. Coaching is with a Registered Dietitian who can provide credible information and valuable insight to adopt an active lifestyle and sustainable habits for a lifetime of good health.

Tell us about yourself

What motivated me to become a Registered Dietitian and then to start my own business was my own health and weight loss journey. I can sincerely empathize with the struggle because I went through it myself! Now I have both the clinical expertise and the personal experience to guide others towards their health goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Nailing down my first client was a big win! I felt validated for my marketing efforts after weeks of feeling discouraged. It was a good reminder to practice patience and perseverance.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The lack of team support. At least at first, as a solopreneur, it was difficult navigating the many aspects of owning a business, from choosing accounting software to finding the best marketing approach. This was something that was never taught in my academic career, and in all of my previous jobs, I worked on a team in which I could bounce ideas off of others. It took effort and me stepping out of my comfort zone to develop a network that provided support and resources.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't wait. You'll procrastinate until you feel like every process is perfected, but the reality is it's all going to change.
  2. Utilize free resources! Podcasts, YouTube tutorials, promotions, and guidance from others are all wonderful resources to get you started.
  3. Learn from your mistakes. You're going to have things that work great and things that may flop. Don't get discouraged and give up; just keep going!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Starting your own business is HARD WORK! Nothing comes easy, it's going to be stressful, and you may feel alone. But remember why you started in the first place, and that you can achieve almost anything if you want it badly enough.
