Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Teena Stoddart, Founder of Violence Link Consulting, located in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I provide training and consultation services to governments, law enforcement, victim services, early childhood educators, and animal welfare professionals. You can visit my website for further details.

Tell us about yourself

I started Violence Link Consulting because there is a huge gap in the training front-line services are receiving when it comes to the link between human and animal abuse. Information at conferences is great, but true training must include education, intervention, and prevention. The linkage is so strong and predictable that it is imperative to equip law enforcement, victim service providers, early childhood educators, and animal welfare professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to help identify and act on these intervention options as early as possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to reach people from around the world.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

In economic downtime, it is definitely finding organizations that can pay for valuable training.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research the market.
  2. Be well-connected in your field of expertise.
  3. Be able to adjust to markets.

Where can people find you and your business?
