What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the owner of Vinkira Media Group, LLC. My customers are those businesses that want to tell their story and show the essence of their products and services through creative means but may not have the time, resources, or other means to tell their story effectively. I specialize in helping my customers tell that story through video (animation, testimonial, etc.), custom music (the music enhances the video), and voice-overs (for added energy and engagement). Business owners are focused on the day-to-day operations and providing quality products and services to potential customers. Vinkira Media Group is here to help those business owners find their voice and magnify it so that they may reach more customers.

Tell us about yourself

Well, for starters, I am a hip-hop artist! I definitely knew that I wanted to use music as a means to serve other businesses. Working with video was a passion that was reignited, and I knew that when used in conjunction with music, video could be a powerful medium for any business that is looking to gain exposure or continue expanding upon the exposure that they have already. Voice-overs were the result of a combination of doing theatre in high school and college and filming my own mini-documentaries for my music. Those things were what inspired me to start and provide the services that I provide. I am motivated each day by knowing that a potential client will have something in the realm of the services that I offer that will need to be done. Businesses are starting, and growing, their own podcasts, and they may need a voice-over done for their podcast. Some businesses may need testimonial videos that show the great experience that they provided to their customers. Some businesses may need custom music for the videos that they have. It really depends on the needs of the business. That need and my wanting to be of service with creativity is what motivates me each day to do what I do. Knowing the joy that I can provide a client with one of my service solutions and seeing the joy that the client has after I have provided them with one of my services is also what motivates me each day to continue doing what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was getting to a point where I knew what I wanted to offer to help business owners. When starting out, I fell into the trap of wanting to offer so many services and even offer services that differ from what I should have been offering in the first place. Now, there is no knock on other services, but I knew that for myself, I needed to stay as creative as possible with the services that I offered. It's easy to start off offering the world just to gain clients. The only downfall with doing that is that it pulls you away from what you enjoy doing the most, and it pulls you away from what you know that you can offer that will really benefit your potential clients. The clarity that I had when I decided to use my passions as services has been so invaluable. Gaining that clarity has been a game-changer for myself and my business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In my humble opinion, one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is getting out of our own heads at the beginning of the journey. We may spend time questioning ourselves and what we want to do. We spend time going over whether what we want to do is the right or wrong thing to do. We spend time wondering if we are cut out to be business owners. We spend time wondering if what we will be doing is going to make a difference. We spend so much time in our own heads about our businesses that sometimes it hinders or even stops us from going further. Those challenges that we face with ourselves are definitely a hard thing to face, and that comes with being a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top 3 tips that I would give to anyone looking to start running and grow a business today would be to weather any storm that will come because there will be many, get out of your own head and make things happen for your business, and keep pushing forward no matter the circumstance (limited or no support, clients coming in slower than you'd like, etc.) even when you feel like your support is limited. Greatness is on the horizon for you. Once you know that, then you will grow into it, and your business will thrive!
