Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in retail, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Vienne Brown of VienneMilano, based in Boston, MA.

What's your business and who are your customers?

VienneMilano is a luxury hosiery brand dedicated to thigh high stockings. We cater to female customers between the ages 25 - 60 years old.

Tell us about yourself

I'm Vienne of VienneMilano.com. I am a woman of color, a mother, and an entrepreneur. I founded VienneMilano as I could not find thigh highs that would stay up on my leg (in the US) and worn for every occasion.

Working relentlessly with suppliers in Italy, I designed and launched a collection of hosiery in 2011.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was launching the world's first luxury hosiery brand dedicated to thigh high stockings. Prior to 2011, there were no other brands in this niche. We now offer a variety of colors, styles, textures, and sizes (including plus sizes). We even have eco-friendly styles that are more environmentally friendly.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is finding talent. Good help is hard to find.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Just do it. There's never the right moment to start a business - you just have to do it.

2. Everyone is an "expert" the moment you launch your business - you do not need to listen to anyone but yourself.

3. Focus on things that matter to your business.
