Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Véronique Lefebvre, Founder of Vie Esthetic Studio, located in Ottawa, ON, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Vie Esthetic Studio is a spa that excels in helping busy reconnect to themselves. Through result-oriented services, we teach the importance of self-care so that you can confidently show up as the best version of yourself.

Tell us about yourself

I've been an esthetician for 22+ years. After having my first child, I knew I wanted to work one-on-one with my clients and be there for my 11-month-old son, so Vie Esthetic Studio was born. At the time, it was a room in my home, and it provided me with the work/life balance I needed. My two kids are my motivation. I want to teach them to build their future careers around a life they love and follow their passions and hearts.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'd have to say that my biggest accomplishment so far would be the recent move of the business. Going from being a solo esthetician and working from home to a new location with multiple treatment rooms and a small team.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Boundaries! Setting clear boundaries is essential. As a business owner, it's hard not to pick up your laptop and do just a bit more work in the evening or not to extend your schedule to accommodate just one more client. It's a work in progress, but I'm getting there.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Good question! I'd have to say to just start. Don't wait for the time to be right because the time won't ever be perfect. Set clear boundaries from the start. It's much easier to do that than set boundaries after a few years and knows that you can only grow your business so much by yourself. Don't be afraid to hire and delegate when you get to that point. I wish I'd done this sooner.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Do it, even if it scares you. Being a business owner is scary and amazing all at once, but don't stop yourself because you're scared. Push through that and see all the great things you can accomplish.
