What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a nature and landscape photographer, and I sell prints of my work. From sweeping views to radiant flowers to scenes of a city in movement, I strive to create images that make you feel like you are in the scene.
Tell us about yourself
I have had a camera in my hands since I was a teenager. I love to capture the serenity and tranquility of nature and share those moments with others. Receiving feedback and encouragement from people is such a tremendous motivator.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the ability to sell photographic prints to people who are thousands of miles away and have those people share how a specific image has resonated with them.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is putting yourself out there. It is sometimes daunting to visualize how a concept or idea will be received, but it has been extremely rewarding.
Another hard thing is juggling different deadlines and tasks. Sometimes the simplest task can become complex and require much more time than originally allocated.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Plan. Have a map of the specific goals you want to accomplish and the exact steps you will take to accomplish those goals.
- Be yourself. You are the only YOU that exists. You are unique. People will be drawn to that uniqueness.
- Be flexible. There will be many predicaments and setbacks that will arise. Being able to pivot swiftly will cause less anguish in the long run.
