What's your business, and who are your customers?
Vero Soliman Beauty provides makeup lessons and makeup services specializing in soft glams and bridal makeup in New Jersey. My passion started at my lowest times when depression had taken over, and makeup was literally what kept me motivated and excited! This passion became a mission to empower women through makeup by enhancing their natural beauty.
Tell us about yourself
It all started with my friends; they always asked me what makeup product I had on or how to achieve certain looks. This made me start going LIVE on Facebook to share my beauty tips which led to creating a community of beauty lovers. Being part of this community was an amazing feeling because I was able to share what I love, whether it was trying a makeup product that had just launched or recreating a makeup look. Throughout this experience, via social media, I was able to connect with many women. It opened a new door, “little me” was helping many women around the world to feel better joy just sharing my passion for makeup and teaching the basics of makeup I knew back then (2018).
This connection and trust I was building on social media made me take the next step, to continue educating myself and becoming a Professional Makeup Artist. In 2020, I became a mom to a beautiful girl named Seryna. The thought of having to go back to work and not having a flexible schedule to spend quality time with my daughter and family pushed me to take my passion to the next level and create a business I was passionate about. My family is what motivates me every day; I do what I love by making other women happy at their special events and sharing with them that special moment of making them feel like a better version of themselves fulfills my heart! I get to go home and enjoy the rest of the day with my children and my most supportive husband!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the flexibility of doing my own schedule. It also feels like a personal accomplishment because I get to spend more time with my beloved ones.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing I can say it’s keeping up with digital marketing, especially social media. It has been amazing for my business, but I have to make sure to keep up with it because I have created a community whom I appreciate so much, and thanks to them, it’s how I was able to become a “Beautypreneur”.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don’t listen to naysayers.
- Don’t compare your work to anyone else; you are your own competition.
- Just got for it! Don’t try to be a perfectionist because, at one point, that stopped me from launching my business at an earlier time. People love to see your progress and growth over time.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
To anyone trying to start a new business that many have their opinions of it being “saturated,” don’t listen to them! Focus on your niche and be passionate about your mission; you have your own sauce!
