What's your business, and who are your customers?
VB Educator Consulting provides professional development, training, and coaching services that promote effective teaching, learning, and management practices for new teachers and school leaders.
Tell us about yourself
VB Educator Consulting was created because of the deficits I witnessed with teachers and leaders in public schools. In both instances, I saw and continue to see expectations raised, but training and support are, at best minimal. This is one reason why we have this never-ending cycle and crisis in education. What keeps me motivated is knowing the value and impact of my services. The feedback from the teachers and school leaders I serve confirms it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being certified as a Woman Owned Business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is realizing you can't do it all. As much as you want to say yes, there will be times when no is the only option. The other thing that comes to mind is giving yourself grace and finding joy in the journey.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get business ready —separate personal from business.
- Be teachable. Get a business coach/mentor.
- Understand the sacrifice of building a business and the impact it may have on those closest to you.
