What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business empowers women of color to create financial growth via entrepreneurship. Through consulting, my clients develop the skills to build community, execute strategies, develop rewarding relationships, and take their businesses to new heights!
Tell us about yourself
I've always been an entrepreneur at heart, and I've always loved being of service to my community. After working in the banking industry for 11 years, I was inspired to launch a business that would enable me to give back by sharing my financial knowledge. When I learned about the racial wealth gap, I wanted to make an impact by delivering my expertise to those who need it most.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to provide direct services to over 300 entrepreneurs in underserved communities. Many were seeking answers and assistance with navigating the complexities of starting a new business in a changing global economy. Being in a position to provide support and guidance will always be one of my greatest achievements.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I started my journey as an entrepreneur while working full-time in my professional career. This is a common experience for many business owners who want to mitigate financial risk while simultaneously pursuing their dream. One of the hardest things that come with that is finding time to move the dial on important projects and initiatives that are needed to grow the business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Develop a realistic timeline to achieve your business goals. Focus on taking small steps and devote time on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to complete the tasks that are necessary to achieve your goals. This is important for all entrepreneurs, especially those who are just getting started and developing a discipline to build their small businesses.
