Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Vance Larson, founder of Vance Larson Life Coaching, located in Millsboro, DE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I wear many hats, but my primary role is working as a Life Coach and consultant. My services are geared towards the professional on the go. I keep unusual office hours, knowing that life happens outside the traditional 9-5 work day. My clients can reach me most any time of day. They appreciate my flexibility and laid-back process.

More often than not, my clients end up working with me because therapy was/is not needed, but they are looking for an upgrade in their life. By offering support, accountability, and action items, they do see results. From daily motivation to relationship issues or simply building their business, each session is tailored to address what is happening in real-time, thus removing the stressors of the day.

Tell us about yourself

I am a retired crisis counselor of 20 years. Today, I felt it important to work with those who want to be proactive rather than reactive. Coaching is a much different process. I like to motivate and inspire my clients. Having worked with the homeless, military, to Fortune 500 CEOs, I bring a diverse background and unique skill-set to my clients.

With just over 35 years of experience working in mental health, I still am just as passionate about my profession as when I started. I see this as sacred work and treat it as such.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have been blessed to work with some very high-profile people. I have learned just as much from them as they have learned from me. It's all about relationships, which leads me to a national wellness app called PacifyR. As senior advisors, we are changing the landscape in wellness. We provide wellness programs to companies that value their employees.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are always going to be challenges for any business owner. For me, I see challenges as opportunities to grow up my skill-set. By remaining flexible and surrounding myself with supportive people, I believe that we can overcome any obstacle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Take advice from the people who have already been there. It's not that others don't have ideas to contribute. But when building a business, follow a proven method. You can add your personal touch later. And please be passionate and honest in your doings. Let's be authentic and bring kindness back into the work environment. Kindness is the most underrated sales tool.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You will always get the real me. Unfiltered, inspired, and grateful that I have survived 35 years working in the same field. I am a lover of life. Married to the most amazing woman for the past 20 years. I am big into fitness, health, traveling, and spiritual studies. I am also an avid writer. I'm not someone that you would want to work with if all you're looking to do is live in the past. So call me. 410-533-6219. Let's get busy creating your future!
