What's your business, and who are your customers?

Vallon Consulting LLC is a consulting firm that specializes in compliance for the trucking industry through consulting & compliance services along with offering resources.

Tell us about yourself

I really started focusing on this business at the start of the pandemic when I was laid off from work due to budget cuts at my job. I decided that I didn't want to risk my success on another company, and I was determined to be the reason I was going to either succeed or fail in my business. I was already ready to quit my job. I was getting passed up on opportunities and not given the raises or bonuses I deserved because my boss wasn't a fan of mine. I am motivated every day to become a better me in all aspects of my life but to also use my platform, skills, and network to assist others in becoming successful as well. I truly believe that I can be successful on my own, but I'm not fulfilling my purpose in life unless I'm helping others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is making an impact in people's lives and being able to assist in their success as a business owner. Some of my clients are people that might have been formally incarcerated; they have limited funds and want to be able to provide a better life for themselves and their children. Being able to assist them with starting their business and helping them become successful is my biggest accomplishment as a business owner and as a person.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with a business owner, particularly in the trucking industry, is being able to manage your time effectively. As a business owner, you wear a lot of different "hats." Being able to manage all of these roles/responsibilities and allocating time to each responsibility can really determine your level of success and how quickly you can scale your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You should always be a student. Continue to improve your craft, skills, and trade.
  2. Be patient. Nothing happens overnight.
  3. Believe in yourself no matter what.
