Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Caitlyn Wells, Founder of Upwell Strategies, located in Athens, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Upwell Strategies, we partner with impact-driven CEOs (like you!) to elevate the synergy between you and your business. In building foundational systems, tools, and processes engineered for scaling, we create space for you to focus on what really matters. Our goal? Empowering you to become the architect of your business and life.

Tell us about yourself

I first chose to start Upwell Strategies with the mission of carrying strong values & simply treating people like people instead of just another name on the client list or number on the balance sheet. I've seen so many business owners invest in someone to support them in their business and leave that experience feeling cheated or as if they didn't matter once the invoice was paid. I never want anyone to feel that way, and that's why we provide such a high-touch level of service in every package we offer to our clients. Everything we do is rooted in our value of providing high-quality, customized solutions to each of our clients. Our mission is to elevate brands that are striving to make an impact in the world. Simply put, we love doing good work with good people. With empathetic execution at the core of our operational excellence, here we listen first. Our team intentionally prioritizes the flow of creativity in each client's business, so they'll never feel stifled by their systems. Always up-to-date on existing and emerging technologies, we're proactive in sourcing a well of custom solutions…optimized for each client.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment to date as a business owner has been learning to embrace, with joy, all aspects of the journey of building & growing a business. Embracing the highs & lows, the moments of contraction & the moments of expansion. And in those moments, being grateful for where I am in that moment & for how far I've come while continuing to look ahead for the possibilities that await.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The parts of being a business owner that some find challenging, others find easy. Many of the hard parts of the entrepreneur journey depend on your personality, working style, and mentality when approaching new and challenging things. For me, specifically, one of the hardest things was learning to celebrate all accomplishments -- the big and the small. It's really easy as a business owner to always be looking ahead, setting new goals, and continuing to push forward without taking the time to reflect & celebrate all the goals you have already accomplished.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. There will be seasons of working many long days and long weeks, but there will also be seasons with spaciousness for rest. Just don't get stuck in the seasons of hustling. Those moments of rest are more productive for you than you may think.
  2. Don't be afraid to ask for help or to ask a question. You don't have to build your business on your own.
  3. Be intentional about who you surround yourself with and who you share your dreams & ideas with. It's important that you are surrounded by people who will support you and cheer you on as you grow your business.
