Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Natalia Champagnie, owner of Uplifted Bra Services, located in Toronto, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Uplifted Bra Services provides:

  • Mobile and virtual bra fittings.
  • Bra Parties.
  • Educational services for bra wearers that are frustrated with their current bras and are looking for a properly fitting bra.

We carry band sizes 28-46 and cups sizes D+, but with nearly 80% of the population STILL wearing the wrong bra size, I encourage bra wearers to not focus on the cup size "D+" but focus on getting UPLIFTED...your tatas will thank you!!

Tell us about yourself

I started Uplifted because I am my own customer. I was tired of wearing three bras to play sports and still not having enough support. I was tired of needing to go to the USA or Europe to be fit properly with each one costing the equivalent of my monthly grocery bill.

This was the inspiration behind Uplifted. I felt it was important to offer an alternative to the traditional bra shopping experience. A service that was accessible to those who work traditional and non-traditional hours, were new parents, had limited access to transportation, and a variety of other circumstances. Properly educating and fitting my clients, to help them to feel confident and enlightened, keeps me going. It is amazing to see them take what they have learned and share their Uplifted experience with others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishments are the happy tears. Bra wearers suffering from back, neck, and shoulder problems and contemplating major surgery thank me for changing their lives by getting them fitted properly.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Things will always ebb and flow, but it's hard finding ways to stick with it when things are slow, but this is my passion and I am motivated each day by the positive impact Uplifted has had in the lives of my clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find an area that you are passionate about. When you do, even when times are rough, people will see that light in your eyes when you talk about your business and products. It also helps to reignite your passion and joy.
  2. Be kind to yourself. This process is not always easy, and as you navigate each step, it might go smoothly, but if it does not, try and manage your negative thoughts. With social media being such a huge driver and measuring stick for success, you need to manage expectations, keep on trucking, or step away for a bit.
  3. Capitalize on free resources provided by libraries, municipalities, BIAs, Facebook groups, etc., for support, accountability partners, and information. There are knowledge and assistance gold mines that will cost you nothing but can enhance your business at each stage.
