C.A.N.D.Y. Method To Speaking Confidently - Upcycle Coaching

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ly Smith, International Speaker & Performance Coach of UpCycle Coaching LLC, located in Reno, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Speaker and Presentation Consultant. I help entrepreneurs and coaches who want to speak in person or virtually. By guiding them to trust themselves, their message, and their audience, I help them to own their stage with dynamic presence, certainty, and confidence.

Tell us about yourself

After fulfilling my dream as a stay-at-home mom, I am now fulfilling the dream of my 8-year-old self, who fell in love with public speaking oh so many years ago. I have integrated my 30-plus years of personal development studies and 50 years of life experience into a message that inspires and provides tools and tactics for individual who is ready to step into the best version of themselves and live their best life! I am on a mission to transform the reactors into creators by shifting the way they see themselves.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been speaking at a virtual event for International Women's Day 2022, where just under a million unique clicks hit the event.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur is the loneliness of the journey, especially with working from home.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get super clear on what makes you happy. If what you do doesn't light you up and get you jumping out of bed, you won't be strong enough to persist during the days you don't feel like doing the work.
  2. Have a strong WHY! Why do you want to start a business? While making money is a great goal, it is not a great enough why. Your why must be heart-centered, not logical, so that it will provide you the resilience you need to get through the challenges that will inevitably show up.
