Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Briana and Davielle Unique, Founders of Unique's Life Coaching, located in Boston, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Unique's Life Coaching is a company dedicated to coaching clients on their spiritual, transformation, and growth journey. We offer life coaching and tarot reading services that aid our clients in raising their vibration and becoming their most authentic selves. We also believe in giving back to our community, so we provide a lot of free and purchasable resources via our social media pages and website, such as journals, templates, classes, etc. Everything that we provide is meant to help our clients and community grow and heal.

Tell us about yourself

Briana Unique (Founder) was a ballroom dancer before she became a certified life coach. And through her years of teaching, she began to fall in love with the coaching aspect of her job. Being able to help people through their personal problems by motivating her students and building their confidence while on the dance floor was truly the passion that felt like her purpose. The pandemic opened up an opportunity for her to pursue life coaching full-time, as she found herself falling deeper in love with helping people through the emotional and traumatic transformation everyone was going through, including herself.

Through healing with her family, Briana and her sister Davielle Unique (Co-founder) decided to bring what they were learning in their own healing journeys to the world. They both realized that they shared the same passion for talking to people and coaching via social media and had a true gift for guiding individuals through their growth. From there, both certified coaches knew it was a no-brainer to officially put all of their eggs in the coaching basket and really make a difference in the life of others!

It is our clients and supporters that keep us motivated every day. The love for what we do genuinely drives us to be amazing coaches and better students. Always learning and sharing our wisdom. We give our clients the undivided attention that they deserve, and it brings us joy to be able to do that on a daily basis.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as owners was making the decision to truly get vulnerable about what has taken place in our own personal lives. We have experienced a traumatic past, one of the great ups and consistent downs. We experienced a tough life that prepared us to be the life coaches we are today. Healing through our pain and openly sharing with our community has given what we do a greater meaning.

We teach our clients that vulnerability is the gateway to true healing, so doing that ourselves and sharing it with our community has not only helped us release our pain but brought us closer to our clients and opened the door for newer clients to work with us and feel safe doing so. Creating and providing that safe space for people is hands down the best thing we could have done!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about running a business is literally the business side! We wear ALL the hats. We are very passionate about life coaching, helping clients, sharing online, and doing the work we love to do. However, to keep a business going, there's a lot that has to happen behind the scenes that aren't so glamorous. So as new business owners, we have to do it all. From website design to marketing to accounting, none of it is easy, but they're all completely worth it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. DO IT!! If you have a dream and you really want to start your business, do not let anyone or anything deter you from that. Even if the competition seems high or the market is saturated, nobody can do what you do the way YOU do it. Failure is only not trying!
  2. Make sure you do research before starting your business. Look up the business laws for your state/country/region. Understand the upfront costs, and get clear on what problem you solve. Become an expert in your field and know a little bit about everything your business will need. Even if you'll hire someone to do the job for you, make sure you know and understand the basics.
  3. Rest and fun are productivity. The stigma that entrepreneurs have to be all business all the time is not healthy. Plan to rest. Make your joy a priority. Your best ideas will flow to you naturally when you allow yourself to rest and enjoy life. Don't let your business consume you. Celebrate the "little wins" and the BIG wins. Make sure YOU come first!
