What's your business, and who are your customers?

Ullman's Health and Beauty is a boutique store for your health and beauty. We believe that inner wellness goes together with outer beauty. We believe that the pleasant setting of our store and our knowledge and listening skills are the best tools to help our customers find the right remedy, tea, or skincare product for them.

Tell us about yourself

I have been working in this field all my life. Pharmacy and the well-being of people is the passion of my life. I worked for over 25 years as a pharmacist in Germany. Here in Michigan, I wanted to utilize my expertise and experience in a more customer-oriented setting. My customers are my driving force.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is to understand our customer's needs and wants each day a little better.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The toughest challenge is to foresee trends in the supplement industry.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your vision and polish your vision.
  2. Be prepared that the growth of your business may be slower than expected.
  3. Invest in a good marketing company. The marketing company needs to understand your vision, your products and should also be able to execute digital marketing.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Having a business is very fulfilling and, at the same time, demanding. To not burn out or lose confidence in your own skills, it is important to allow yourself time off and have a group of supporting people around you.
