Tell us about yourself

The Newlin twins have both worked in publishing and marketing for years. Haley wrote two novels, Take Your Turn, Teddy, and Not Another Sarah Halls, both of which Hanna helped organize book signings, assisted with social media promotion, and more. After finding success in their collaboration for Haley's books, Hanna and Haley decided they wanted to do the same for more authors, podcast hosts, bookstores, etc. They are motivated daily as avid readers, eager to get more incredible, sometimes terrifying, romantic, fantastical, poetic books into the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The Newlin's biggest accomplishment would be getting Clay McLeod Chapman, author of Ghost Eaters, to review Take Your Turn, Teddy. They are also proud of their part in successful launches for titles such as The Reyes Incident by Briana Morgan. Ultimately, they are proud of their growing and diverse clientele.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It's always challenging starting your own business, but one thing they confront daily with Twins & Talent is the stigma surrounding indie titles. But, the Newlin twins believe their clients' work speaks for itself and has thrilled readers worldwide.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Three tips Haley and Hanna would give business owners looking to grow a business today are:

  1. Ensure your services/product is clear. It's like that old saying, too many cooks in the kitchen, but it is true of what businesses offer. It's great to offer an array of things to customers, but it should always be clear what you provide, the outcome for the client, and what you get in return.
  2. Get people in your corner. Taking on new clients is great, but it all begins with a great team. Identify where you could use help and your expectations of your partner(s), and settle into a reciprocal relationship that benefits the business.
  3. Always ensure you're finding happiness in your work. It sounds so cliche, but it shines through your work when you enjoy what you're doing.
