Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing line but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Meghal Vijayan, business development officer and founder of TVAAG, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

TVAAG is a revolutionary Plant-based Lifestyle startup that develops clothing from Plant-based Fabrics. TVAAG's products are unique in the fact that not just its Fabrics are sourced from Plants, but also its dyes. TVAAG has designed a 'Plant-Influx' Technology, which is a process that injects sustainable plant materials into the fabric. This makes our fabric hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and extremely sustainable, thereby not polluting the local water table when washing.

Tell us about yourself

TVAAG was not born out of a commitment to create an incorporated establishment or manufacture clothes. It was more of an interlace in the personal search for a better lifestyle and chance coming my way. A few years back, I faced muscle pain issues in my spine region due to a Kickboxing injury. I approached several doctors to find a solution. All of them suggested quite risky procedures. I then resorted to alternative medicine to find treatment. Since they are herbal and holistic in nature, they have been known not to have side effects. The treatment had very miraculous effects on me, not just physically but also mentally. Since then, my mission has been hell-bent on educating others about the benefits of a holistic lifestyle. The most efficient way through which we decided to do this was our clothing since it's a necessary commodity. We engineered to infuse these herbs onto our fabrics and create a wearable that has certain subtle yet distinct properties. For us, TVAAG is not about clothing but the complete experience.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I believe the single biggest achievement for myself so far has been my personal journey itself. Before I went about establishing a fruitful business, it was extremely necessary for me to become the person that the business deems to be - in order to be relied upon, to be on my feet, and taking decisions no matter what. I am aware and present and can confidently say now that I have become that through rigorous self-work

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's the predicament that you will have to take a decision at a certain point in time where logic fails, but gut feeling trumps. Logically every single sign is telling you to back down. But your pure instincts tell you otherwise. In such cases, I would say if your intentions are pure, trust your gut because the human body has a deeper intelligence on its own.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your fundamental research - get your basic data out of the way. This shall be your guiding light moving forward. Just don't overdo it and abstain from action.
  2. Start right now - This very moment that you are hesitating is when you have you start. Because beyond this lies your true liberation as an entrepreneur.
  3. Don't act on others' advice - This will put you in analysis paralysis mode. As controversial as this may sound, others have no clue what you want. It is your business. It is your baby. Only you know what your vision is. Believe in it.
