Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in golf but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Peter Palmer, a PGA and C.G.T.F. Instructor of True Tempo Academy, located in Sarnia, ON, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is instructing golf lessons to new, intermediate, and advanced golfers to better their game with proper setup, swing, putting, and course management.

Tell us about yourself

My father got me interested in the game of golf at a very young age. I noticed and was very intrigued by his passion and excitement for teaching the game of golf.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment of a business owner is always having some student confirm to me that they have improved with either their Swing, their Score, or all-around better fundamentals of understanding their own game.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is not only getting business but, in my case, getting new students. The hardest thing is the return of the student/customer.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know the demographics in the area in which you wish to pursue your new business.
  2. Make sure there is a strong need or want for your product or company platform.
  3. Have a plan. A plan on your starting, you're sure growth and the future growth and where you want to take it, or should I say your final stage of growth or success.
