What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help individuals feel confident and beautiful in their own skin by using makeup to enhance their favorite and best features! The majority of my clients are business owners who want to look like themselves while appealing to their ideal clients. I also offer makeup services for weddings, film productions, and commercial photoshoots.
Tell us about yourself
I have always loved working with people, and before becoming a certified makeup artist, I worked in healthcare administration. I ended up becoming so busy seeing clients on the side of working full time that I eventually made the decision to pursue makeup full time, and I have never looked back! This career brings me so much joy! I love helping people feel pampered while in my chair and watching them leave feeling great about themselves and how they look.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve been very lucky to have received several awards and publications for my artistry throughout the course of my career, but I can honestly say my biggest accomplishment has been being able to manage all of this as a mom of 3 young children!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The copious amount of office work and navigating through my busy schedule.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be patient with yourself! Some days are going to be overwhelming, but you can do this!
- The fortune is in the follow-up! I wish I had a system earlier in my business to be able to follow up with clients right away! Keep those connections with people - it’s so important!
- Hire a business coach or at least have 1-2 trusted mentors that are a few steps ahead of you at all times. Their guidance will be invaluable!
