Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with David Day, Owner of Triplo, located in Greensboro, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Triplo is a Christian apparel brand based on Ecclesiastes 4:12. "And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Our current line includes hoodies, joggers, t's, shorts, hats, and a women's line coming soon. The brand is minimalist, custom wear. It is based on three things. Great gear that is top of the line creates a genuine conversation about Jesus and gives back to missions around the world.

Tell us about yourself

I always had a dream to start an apparel brand but just never took the leap. My professional background was working for Christian non-profits related to oversea missions. I combined the two passions to create Triplo Gear.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think launching the brand and seeing Matt Hasselbeck wearing a Triplo hoodie while being interviewed on the Dan Patrick show.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is definitely getting the word out and being online only. I wish every potential customer could touch, feel and wear the gear and then they would be sold as it's a great product for a great cause.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Really research the name and meaning behind that name. I ran into various issues there.
  2. Really understand what you do well and what you don't do well and find someone to help in those areas.
  3. Plan your marketing and budget accordingly. Advertising has changed just in the past three years on Facebook and Google.
