What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business is Trinkets of Light. We make polymer clay earrings and other "trinkets." Our customers are women with the goal of reaching women who have struggles and giving them reminders of God's goodness in their life even when it seems helpless.
Tell us about yourself
We always knew we were going to start a business but didn't know what it would look like. We have enjoyed crafting all our lives, so when looking at things to make, we instantly took to polymer clay. What motivates me to get up and do this every day is knowing that I'm able to have a small part in encouraging someone and ultimately being able to remind them of God and how he is working even when it's hard to see it at the moment.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment is having someone tell us that following us encouraged them to come to church. That's when I realized what we were doing was so much bigger. All we did was show up each day, and God is doing the rest.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The Hardest thing about owning a business is having it take over the house. Also, sharing a business with someone else (needing to consistently communicate, share roles, change roles, share supplies, etc.)
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Our Top 3 tips:
- There is never a good time to start, so just start.
- Social media is amazing and allows you to reach so many people, but having a bunch of followers does no good, and losing followers is a good thing in order to reach your ideal clients.
- Be consistent, show up, and don't give up.
