Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Carrie Seifert, Founder of Transformative Training, located in Boyce, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is helping people age with strength and confidence. My customers are primarily over 40 but also include anyone looking for smarter, more efficient ways to keep fit while avoiding injury.

Tell us about yourself

I got into strength training because I loved helping athletes perform better, but along the way fell out of love with training competitive athletes and decided that helping adults to train like athletes was my true calling. Life is a sport, and we all need to know how to train like the athletes we are.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Becoming self-employed and not having to give a percentage of my earnings to someone else was one of my biggest accomplishments.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a business owner means that, in the end, all decisions come back to you, including mistakes learned along the way.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be intentional with your time and energy.
  2. Confidence is important, but make sure to be open to learning (from everyone) along the way.
  3. Expect to fail before you succeed.
