Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Regina Huber, Founder of Transform Your Performance, located in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a Transformational Leadership Coach and CEO of my coaching, speaking, and training business, Transform Your Performance, I help value-driven Leaders from managers to C-suite get recognition, raises, and promotions while they are building more engaged & happier teams. Through my signature leadership frameworks, Powerful Leadership Transformation (PLT)™ and New-Paradigm Leadership (NPL)™, it is my quest to instill a new business consciousness of love, compassion, and co-creation.

Tell us about yourself

My eclectic experience on five continents started on a farm in a tiny village in Germany and includes management positions at several offices of BCG as well as ownership of businesses in Argentina, Brazil, and the U.S. My curiosity, my adventurous spirit, and my love of freedom, movement, and dance turned me into a passionate nomad, which has granted me many unforgettable experiences as well as incredible opportunities to grow – through joy, pain, major challenges, and mysterious synchronicities.

When I moved from Rio de Janeiro to New York City in 2012, I was searching for a way to blend all my precious experience and wisdom into a meaningful business that would be aligned with the next chapter of my purpose. This is how to Transform Your Performance was born. What fuels my enthusiasm for my work is my idealism, my desire for true freedom and wealth for all, as well as my insatiable curiosity for what else is possible. Everything I do is in the service of freedom: the freedom to Speak up, Stand out, and Shine, as the title of my first book says.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Over the years, I built three completely different businesses in three countries and language zones, each time starting from zero,… apart from building an impressive network on the African continent remotely, which soon turned into some of my passion projects and many lasting friendships.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Dealing with corrupt authorities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don’t wait for others to “empower” you. No one can empower you but yourself. What you can do is seek knowledge, guidance, and encouragement from others. Ideally, you want to find inspiring mentors or coaches that understand and support your unique path.
  2. Running and growing a business takes faith in your vision, tenacity, and a good portion of enthusiasm (and often also humor). So you better come equipped with those.
  3. Rather than competing with others, focus on knowing, owning, and showing your unique brilliance and its potential,… what you can and want to achieve with it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

When it comes to the toughest decisions, make them with your heart. It holds special wisdom that applies to no one else’s decisions but yours.
