What's your business, and who are your customers?
I work from home as a professional blogger.
Tell us about yourself
When our boys were young, I wanted to find a way to stay home with them by working from home. I have tried a number of things, but writing reviews and sharing life from my own website has been the one thing that has stuck out the longest.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've been blogging from my same website for about 13 years now. Doing so has provided our family with many fun outings, some long-distance travel, free products, and income.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe my biggest struggles have been the huge learning curve and time involved in learning how to work with code and website technology from scratch and having a designated quiet place and time to focus. I have no office, in other words.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My advice to anyone wanting to start a business in blogging is to think long and hard unless you know you have the passion for writing and making it a long-term endeavor.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I would like to encourage my fellow struggling stay-at-home mom bloggers and writers out there to keep at it and not quit during your slow times. There have been months I haven't written at all, slow years indeed. But then, after a break, I feel renewed to continue. As a result, I have passed the decade mark with my website.
